In one of the biggest surprises in Telangana Assembly elections, BJP candidate from Kamareddy Katipally Venkataramana Reddy beat BRS President and chairman Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and the TPCC chairman A. Revanth Reddy, who is now an established contender for the top job.

The BJP leader is real big successful of the Assembly elections in Telangaana, after making his political bow with such a spectacular victory over two towering political names.

The winning BJP candidate got 65,198 votes, the leader Minister next with 59,358 votes, while the TPCC leader scored 54,296 votes. The total polled votes were 1,90,239.

Mr. Venkataramana Reddy’s success reminds one of the giant-killing act of Congress politician J. Chittaranjan Das, who beat former TDP Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao within 1989 elections from Kalwakurthy constituency in old Mahabubnagar district.

The Chief Minister came minute, while Mr. Revanth Reddy, after leading in the first rounds, relinquished ground towards the fag end of the counting.

At the outset of the election campaign it looked like David taking on the Goliaths of the politics. But, the result has demonstrated that he is the Bahubali of the electoral struggle.

Talking to The Hindu after the election campaign a few weeks ago, Mr. Venkataramana Reddy publicly challenged whether KCR and Revanth Reddy would be available to the people of Kamareddy, if at all they won
