Sarees have been interpreted in a variety of ways in the Indian fashion industry in recent times. There have always been changes to the clothing, from the blouses becoming more modern to the drape over the shoulder becoming more ornamental. But that doesn’t make the classic silhouette—for which it is most recognized—any less perfect. In fact, it can draw in any fashionista just as brilliantly when seen in its traditional form as Indian cultural dress, sans bells and whistles. Nita Ambani has a sizable saree collection, and her most recent one was stunning as always.
The businesswoman graced the Dhirubhai Ambani International School’s Annual Day ceremony with her daughter Isha Ambani, both of them dressed in traditional ethnic attire. Nita chose a stunning blue silk saree for the prestigious event. The gown was covered in gold woven embroidery in a drop design, set against a beautiful base of blue. The wide gold border edging the dress matched the woven motifs. A lime green border on the back gave the ensemble a splash of vibrancy.
Nita wore silver and white jewelery that had a calm tone. She accessorised her ensemble with a lengthy necklace and pearl drop jhumka earrings. It was matched with a bracelet and matching rings. Under her saree, she accessorised it with gold platform heels. Nita’s dark hair was secured in an updo at the back with pins. Her makeup was understated, with neutral lips, kohl-rimmed eyes, and a hint of colour on her cheekbones.
