According to Yonhap news agency, actor Lee Sun-kyun, who is most known for his part in the Oscar-winning movie “Parasite,” was discovered dead on Wednesday after reportedly taking his own life. The actor was found inside a car at a park in the heart of Seoul, according to the police report.

The 48-year-old was being investigated by the police for probable marijuana and other psychotropic substance use when this happened.

Amid a government crackdown, the actor had been questioned by police three times on allegations of using illegal drugs; one interview lasted for nineteen hours over the weekend. According to the Yonhap news agency, the actor claimed that a bar hostess had deceived him into ingesting narcotics in an attempt to blackmail him.

A fire official told Reuters, under condition of anonymity, that authorities discovered Lee during a search that was prompted by the report that he was missing. This is because the case is delicate. Yonhap earlier reported, citing police, that Lee was discovered in a car at a Seoul park after his manager informed authorities the actor had left home and left what appeared to be a suicide note. It was formerly stated that his wife had reported the occurrence.
